Position Overview
We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Junior Associate – Social Media Writer to join our Marketing and Communications team. The ideal candidate is a sharp storyteller who can adapt their writing style across platforms, understands digital trends, and is enthusiastic about creating engaging content that furthers our mission and drives community engagement.
Roles and Responsibilities
Content Writing and Strategy
- Write clear, compelling, and emotionally resonant copy for social media platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
- Assist in drafting captions, headlines, hashtags, and calls to action for diverse audiences.
- Support the monthly content calendar for Samhita’s CSR clients-related deliverables
- Conduct basic research to create content aligned with ongoing campaigns, events, and advocacy work.
Digital Engagement
- Monitor social media trends, relevant hashtags, and content styles to inform copy.
- Respond to comments and DMs in a tone consistent with our brand.
- Assist in organizing user-generated content and amplifying partner/ally content.
Coordination and Documentation
- Collaborate with designers, video editors, and program teams to create on-brand visuals and multimedia content.
- Maintain an internal content archive of posts, captions, and templates.
- Track performance of written content and iterate based on engagement metrics.
Miscellaneous
- Support live coverage of events, campaigns, or webinars when required.
- Stay up-to-date with nonprofit communication styles and social justice narratives.
- Be a team player willing to experiment, learn, and grow.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0–2 years of experience in social media writing, content creation, or digital communications (internships count!).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (fluency in Hindi or other regional languages is a bonus).
- Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and Canva or basic design tools.
- Passion for social change, storytelling, and working in mission-driven environments.
- Experience working or volunteering in the nonprofit sector (preferred), and an interest in storytelling for impact and community building
