Product Manager – Financial Innovation Team

Role Overview:

  • The role sits within the Financial Innovation team, which is responsible for all financial products like returnable grants, credit guarantee-backed loans, pre-credit scores, and other behavioral scores that Samhita will create/manage in collaboration with its partners, to help micro, nano, and solo entrepreneurs get access to capital and increase their incomes.  
  • The incumbent will help build, develop, and maintain financial innovation products like the Pre-Credit Score by contributing to the design, development, testing, validations, and ongoing monitoring. 
  • The person is expected to support with creating collateral, pitch decks, proposals, and other necessary documentation with respect to the financial innovation products.
  • This role will involve performing standard and ad-hoc analyses of the customer and partner data for insights with regard to operational efficiency and effectiveness of programs and interventions. Storytelling in the form of dashboarding will be necessary to present insights.
  • In order to perform the above-mentioned functions, the person will need to closely liaise with internal stakeholders such as the Implementation team, Technology team, etc., and also with external stakeholders like lenders, implementation partners, and other alliance partners.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the product across its lifecycle spanning through ideation, design, development, testing, validations, and ongoing monitoring
  • Reviewing underlying statistical models and behavioral scorecards as applicable for all financial innovation products
  • Responsible for validation and testing (including partnerships to secure data for testing as needed) of the said underlying models for the financial products
  • Research to find the optimal solution for a given use case, keeping in mind operationalization requirements
  • Support with documentation, proposals, collateral, and other content creation related to financial innovation products
  • Collaboration with internal Samhita-CGF stakeholders and clients/partners along with partnerships and implementation teams 
  • Critical thinking to challenge norms, and strive for continuous improvements in products and processes
  • Troubleshooting any blockages and liaising with internal/external stakeholders to deliver outcomes as planned

Skills Required:

  • Graduate in any field, MBA preferred 
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in a product role in financial services 
  • Understanding and experience in working with behavioral scorecards and credit underwriting models in the context of lending
  • Stakeholder management and having experience in external stakeholder-facing roles
  • Experience with financial modeling, financial analysis, stress testing, validation of hypotheses frameworks, etc. would be advantageous
  • Experience with basic data analysis and dashboarding; Knowledge of Microsoft BI and Tableau will be an advantage but not essential
  • Problem-solving mindset and being open to working in an agile environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Access, Excel 
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of information collection, analysis, distribution systems, and modern database systems or the ability to adapt 
  • Effective communicator and collaborator in a matrix/network organizational setting
  • Problem-solving, time management, interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Team player and self-starter
